Contact details and responsibilities for the Animals and Data instructors

Animals and Data is taught by two instructors, Gavin and Mona.

Dr. Gavin L. Simpson

Gavin is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. He is a member of the Management and Modelling section, and runs ANIVET’s statistical consultancy service.

Gavin is an applied statistician with a focus on multivariate biological dat and nonlinear relationships among variables. Gavin’s research integrate statistical modelling to investigate complex datasets—including microbiome metabolomics, and ecological data—and to develop innovative analytical approaches for animal production systems. Gavin also teaching the elective course Designing Experiments and Analysing Research Data.

Dr. Mona L. V. Larsen

Mona is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. She is a member of the Behaviour, Stress, and Welfare section.

Mona’s current work focuses on the development of digital tools and decision support systems for livestock production including automatic detection of specific behaviours, and early detection and prevention of animal welfare challenges.

The quickest way to get help is simply to approach Mona or Gavin during the class time, preferably immediately before or after the class or during the breaks. If it is not possible to address your issue immediately, Mona or Gavin will follow up with you by email, where they can arrange a separate meeting with you.
